The Team Lichen premium heavyweight sweatshirt was designed in collaboration with Ruth Kim and Joshua P. Matthews.
This purchase of our set of Broadway chairs was significant because at the time, we emptied our bank account to make this gamble; it was the most we’ve spent on anything until that point. When we arrived at our friend Justin’s studio to shoot them we dropped one of the chairs which shattered upon impact. You can even see a crack in the repaired orange armchair shown above. It was devastating at the time but also funny in a way. It allowed us to remember the humanity in our material endeavors. That realization can be found on page 68-70 of ‘Our Floors are Uneven’
"Josh had the vision to emulate the feel of resin in the print to preserve the memory of our collection of broadway chairs. We were told many times this type of print wasn’t possible. But one agreed and with lots of trial and error / research and development landed on a simulated process screen print with a silicone applique." - Ruth Kim
